Biography: Hideo Kojima is best known for creating the Metal Gear series.

Kojima entered the video game industry in 1986, taking up a position at Konami. He has attributed his interest in the area to work by fellow Japanese video game designers Yuji Horii and Shigeru Miyamoto.

At Konami he first worked on Penguin Adventure and then began designing a game called Lost Warld, which was not completed. In 1987, Kojima took over the Metal Gear project, introducing stealth gameplay mechanics that were new to the industry.

Following Metal Gear's success, Kojima directed "Snatcher" (1988), a graphic adventure game. He then developed "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" (1990) after learning about an unauthorized sequel. In 1994, he released another adventure game, "Policenauts."

Kojima's breakthrough came with "Metal Gear Solid" (1998) for the PlayStation. This game received widespread acclaim and led to several sequels, including "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty" (2001) and "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" (2004).

In 2005, Kojima founded Kojima Productions within Konami. He continued to work on the Metal Gear series, releasing "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" (2008). In 2015, Kojima Productions became an independent studio.

Kojima's first game as an independent developer was "Death Stranding" (2019). This game featured actor Norman Reedus and received a number of awards. Kojima has also expressed an interest in filmmaking and has even collaborated with film director Guillermo del Toro.
