Biography: Jessica Pilz is an Austrian rock climber best known for being IFSC Climbing World Champion in lead climbing in 2018. Pilz has consistently demonstrated prowess in both youth and adult competitions across lead climbing and bouldering disciplines, with achievements in outdoor climbing as well.

Beginning her ascent in the competitive world in 2010, Pilz swiftly established herself as a formidable climber among her peers. She took six victories in international youth lead climbing events between 2011 and 2015. 2014 was particularly good year, with Pilz taking the top spot in both the European Youth Cup and the Youth Championships in bouldering.

She has continued her success in adult competitions, taking gold in both lead climbing and bouldering at the 2017 Winter Military World Games. The height of Pilz's career came in 2018 when she took the IFSC Lead Climbing World Championship title in Innsbruck, Austria, outperforming elite climbers such as Janja Garnbret.

In 2020, Pilz represented her country at the Olympics, achieving a 7th place finish in the Combined event. She further took silver at the 2023 World Championship combined event and qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games.

In January 2016, Pilz also made significant outdoor ascents by redpointing two 8c+ (5.14c) sport climbing routes in Oliana, Spain, an area known for its demanding climbs.
