Biography: Shawn Raboutou is an American rock climber best known for successfully completing more than one V17 (9A) in 2022, an achievement which he was the first to do in the history of the sport.

Born into a family of climbers, Shawn Raboutou was drawn to climbing from an early age. His parents, Didier Raboutou and Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, were both professional climbers. His younger sister, Brooke Raboutou, is also a notable competition climber. By 13, Raboutou had already made his mark by climbing Welcome to Tijuana (5.14b/8c) in Spain.

Raboutou went on to achieve the first ascent of Alphane (V17/9A) in Chironico, Switzerland. He then completed another V17 (9A) boulder problem, Megatron, in Colorado within the same year.

Aside from his outdoor accomplishments, Raboutou also engaged in competition climbing, competing in the IFSC World Cup circuit from 2015 to 2017. He did not win any medals during this period and eventually refocused his efforts on outdoor bouldering where he excelled. Returning to the competitive scene in 2022, Raboutou took a silver medal in the North American Cup series.
