Biography: Eric Carmen was an American musician known for hits like "Go All the Way" and "All by Myself." He transitioned during his career from classical music influences to rock and pop, with a career that spanned over four decades.

Early in his career, Carmen was a member of the Raspberries, a power pop band known for their 1972 hit "Go All the Way." He served as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter, playing an instrumental role in the band's success. Despite a strong start, the Raspberries disbanded in the mid-1970s, leading Carmen to pursue a solo career.

In 1975, Carmen released his debut solo album which featured "All by Myself" and "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again." Both songs were inspired by classical compositions and showcased Carmen's ability to blend different musical styles.

Despite following releases like Boats Against the Current (1977) not reaching the same level of success, and eventually stepping back from the music scene, Carmen's early solo work established his place in pop history.

Carmen experienced a resurgence in the mid-1980s with the movie soundtrack hit "Almost Paradise" from Footloose (1984). His 1984 self-titled album included tracks like "I Wanna Hear It from Your Lips," and he later scored again with the single "Hungry Eyes" from Dirty Dancing (1987).

Beyond performing, Carmen was recognized for his songwriting abilities, contributing to other artists' repertoires. In 2000, he joined Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band, sharing the stage with fellow renowned musicians.

Carmen married three times and had several children. In the 1990s, he moved back to his home state of Ohio. He passed away in March 2024, with his wife Amy announcing his death.
