Biography: Achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music, and has been credited for helping define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. Referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and is known internationally as a folk-rock legend.

Popular songs include: "Early Morning Rain"(1966), "Ribbon of Darkness"(1966), "If You Could Read My Mind" (1970), "Sundown" (1974); and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" (1976).

Gordon Lightfoot received sixteen Juno Awards between 1965 and 77 in folk singer and male vocalist categories. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (1986) and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame (2001).
