Biography: John Carmack is renowned for his work in video game development and virtual reality. He co-founded id Software and served as the lead programmer for groundbreaking games such as Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake.

At id, Carmack developed innovative graphics techniques for games like "Wolfenstein 3D" (1992), "Doom" (1993), and "Quake" (1996). These games revolutionized the first-person shooter genre and influenced many future titles.

In 2013, Carmack was recruited to work at Palmer Luckey's Oculus VR as Chief Technology Officer. He worked on virtual reality technology until 2019, when he reduced his role to focus on artificial general intelligence (AGI). This shift led to legal disputes with his former employer, ZeniMax Media.
