Biography: Adam Ondra is a Czech professional rock climber known for his achievements in lead climbing, bouldering, and competition climbing. He has won World Championship titles in both lead climbing and bouldering in 2014, as well as victories in the World Cup series for both disciplines.

Notably, he is the first climber to redpoint—that is, to complete the entire path while lead climbing—a 9c route. He achieved this record with Silence, a granite overhang in Flatanger, Norway.

Ondra's climbing journey began early, starting at age six. By the time he was thirteen, he had already redpointed his first 9a route. His entry into competitive climbing saw immediate success with wins at the IFSC World Youth Championship in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009, Ondra entered the Lead Climbing World Cup with a win. He earned a spot to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics and clinched gold in the bouldering discipline of the IFSC World Cup in 2021.

Ondra has also accomplished significant feats on rock. He is the second person to onsight an 8c+ route and has completed the first ascents of several ultra-difficult routes, such as Change (9b+) and Silence (9c).

He also made the second free ascent of the formidable Dawn Wall on El Capitan. By the close of 2018, he had conquered over 1,500 sport routes, which include onsights and flashes of the planet's most formidable climbs.

Ondra's exploits and contributions to climbing have not gone unnoticed, as he has been featured in films including The Fanatic Search (2009) and Silence—The Story of Adam Ondra and the World's First 5.15d (2018).

He has also released a book, Adam Ondra: lezec tělem i duší, in 2019 and has won accolades such as the Golden Piton Award and the Salewa Rock Award.
