Biography: Allen Toussaint was an American musician, best known for his influence on the New Orleans rhythm and blues movement for several decades from the 1950s. He was regarded by those that knew of him, for he was not well known outside of the scene, as "one of popular music's great backroom figures."

Many of Toussaint's compositions have become famous after being recorded by other artists. He has also produced a number of hit records, including "Right Place, Wrong Time" which was released by his long-term friend Dr. John and "Lady Marmalade" which was released by Labelle.
