Biography: Andy Williams was an American singer, known for his prolific output with 15 gold-certified albums and 3 platinum-certified. While he never won a Grammy, he was nominated 6 times and his television show, The Andy Williams Show, won three Emmy awards.
His career started out with his brothers, Bob Williams, Don Williams, and Dick Williams. The group were signed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer but their contract was interrupted when Bob was drafted into military service. The remaining three brothers went on to work with Kay Thompson's choir.
Williams' solo career began in 1953 with RCA Records, but it wasn't until 1957 that he broke through properly with his only number-one Billboard hit: "Butterfly." Subsequently he continued to produce music several decades, signing with Columbia in 1961.
