Biography: Bonnie Blair is an American retired speed skater, one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic history. She was known for her exceptional speed and agility on the ice, and her career spanned several Olympic Games from 1984 to 1994.

Blair first competed in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, finishing eighth in the 500 meters. The breakthrough came four years later, at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, where she won her first gold medal in the 500-meter event and a bronze in the 1,000 meters.

Her successful streak continued into the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where she won gold in both the 500 and 1,000-meter events. These victories made Blair the first woman to win consecutive gold medals in Winter Olympic speed skating.

In the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, she again won the 500 and 1,000 meters, bringing her total Olympic medal count to six, five of which were gold. This achievement made her the most successful American woman in the history of the Winter Olympics, a record that stood until it was surpassed by short track speed skater Apolo Ohno in 2010.

In recognition of her accomplishments, Blair was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in 2004.
