Biography: Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to international fame with her breakout hit "Call Me Maybe" (2012), which became the best-selling single of the year and reached number one in over 19 countries.

Jepsen's musical career began with theatre at a young age, appearing in school productions of "Annie," "Grease," and "The Wiz." In 2007, she finished third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol, and her debut studio album "Tug of War" was released in 2008.

Subsequently the success of her single "Call Me Maybe" led to record deals with Schoolboy Records and Interscope Records. Her second studio album, "Kiss" (2012), included the top 10 single "Good Time" with Owl City. Jepsen made her Broadway debut in 2014, playing Cinderella for 12 weeks.

Her third album, "Emotion" (2015), was influenced by 1980s music, dance-pop, and synth-pop, and garnered critical acclaim. In 2016, she performed in the television special "Grease: Live" and voiced a character in the animated film "Ballerina."

Jepsen's fourth album, "Dedicated" (2019), was followed by a companion album, "Dedicated Side B" (2020). Her sixth studio album, "The Loneliest Time" (2022), featured collaborations with artists like Rufus Wainwright, and was followed by another companion album, "The Loveliest Time" (2023).

Throughout her career, Jepsen has received several awards, including three Juno Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, and an Allan Slaight Award. She has also been recognized as a queer icon and performed at several pride parades.
