Biography: Charles the Bold is was the Duke of Burgundy from 1467 to 1477. He was born the eldest son of Philip the Good and Isabella of Portugal.

During his reign, Charles the Bold fought a series of wars against France, Austria, and Switzerland. He was victorious in many of these battles, and his military success enabled him to expand the Duchy of Burgundy’s borders.

Charles the Bold commissioned several works from some of the most renowned artists of the time, such as Rogier van der Weyden and Jan van Eyck.
