Profession: King of Greece
Biography: Constantine I came to the throne in 1913 following his father's assassination, then ruled as King of Greece from 1913 to 1917.
He was forced to resign as a result of his disagreement with Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos over whether Greece should abstain or enter World War I, leading to what became known as the National Schism between the supporters of these two sides. After resigning, his son Alexander took the throne.
When Alexander died in 1920, at age 27, from a monkey bite—having tried to separate a monkey and dog who were fighting—Constantine returned to Greece and, following the fall of Venizelos from favour, retook the throne.
Then, after Greece lost the Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922, Constantine abdicated for a final time and died in exile shortly thereafter.
