Biography: Darius Milhaud studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he met fellow composers Georges Auric, Arthur Honegger, and Germaine Tailleferre. He was a member of the group of composers known as "Les Six," which also included Auric, Honegger, and Tailleferre.
Darius Milhaud's compositions are marked by their use of polytonality and jazz influences. His best-known works include the ballets "La Creation du monde" and "Le Boeuf sur le toit," as well as the opera "Les malheurs d'Orphelin."
Darius Milhaud was a prolific composer, and his output includes more than 400 works. He also taught composition at the Paris Conservatory and the Mills College where he taught Dave Brubeck.
