Biography: David Blaine renovated magician for modern audiences. He emphasised endurance in particular, thus including elements inspired by Houdini incorporated with standard card magic and illusions. This was paired with an ordinary style, gone were the tails and top-hat.

Some of Blaines most famous stunts include 'Buried Alive' (1999) in which he was successfully buried beneath a large water tank for seven days.

His next stunt,'Frozen in Time' (2000), saw him attempt (and fail) to stand in a large block of ice for three days. He had managed almost 64 hours when medical teams rescued him as he appeared to be going into shock.

Since then he has continued to come up with incredible stunts and carry them out in public settings: 'Vertigo,' 'Above the Below,' 'Drowned Alive,' etc.
