Biography: Ernest Renshaw was an English tennis player who, together with his twin brother William Renshaw, dominated the sport in the late 19th century. He won the Wimbledon singles title once, in 1888, and was a runner-up in the event on five occasions.

Together with William, the Renshaw brothers claimed the Wimbledon doubles title a record seven times. Their rivalry and achievements helped to increase the popularity of tennis in Britain, and they were among the first celebrities of the sport.

Sadly Ernest Renshaw's life was cut short when he died of a heart attack at the age of 38.
