Biography: Herb Alpert is an American trumpeter, composer, and record producer who became a prominent figure in the music industry as the co-founder of A&M Records. He is best known for his work with the Tijuana Brass, a group he formed in the early 1960s that blended Latin, jazz, and pop music styles.

Alpert's distinctive sound led to a series of successful albums with the Tijuana Brass, including the hit singles "The Lonely Bull" (1962), "A Taste of Honey" (1965), and "Spanish Flea" (1965). His solo career also flourished, and in 1979 he scored a major hit with the instrumental "Rise," which topped the Billboard charts.

In addition to his performing career, Alpert's leadership at A&M Records, alongside partner Jerry Moss, helped shape the careers of numerous artists such as The Carpenters, Sergio Mendes, and Janet Jackson. As a philanthropist, he has been a significant supporter of arts education, and his contributions to the music industry have earned him multiple Grammy Awards, a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the National Medal of Arts.
