Biography: Paar was best known as the second host of 'The Tonight Show,' from 1957 to 1962. He was drafted by NBC to reboot 'The Tonight Show' after the show intended to replace it was a flop.

While following in Steve Allen's footsteps was no laughing matter, Paar proved incredibly popular and boosted the show's ratings beyond even that of the original.

Subsequently Paar had his own show, 'Jack Paar Tonite' and made guest appearances throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
