Biography: Jimmy Demaret was one of the most colorful characters on the professional golf circuit during his era. He was known for his flashy clothes and personality which made him a favourite with fans.

Demaret learned to play in Texas meant and as a result of this experience excelled in windy conditions. Ben Hogan noted that he had never seen another player better under such conditions.

Demaret's early years as a professional were spent largely on the minor-league circuit. It wasn't until 1940 that he finally broke through and won his first major championship, the Masters. He would go on to win two more Masters in 1947 and 1950.

Demaret's career began to wind down in the early 1950s, and he retired from competitive golf in 1956. He remained active in the game, however, serving as a commentator for many years.
