Biography:John Tavers was selected first overall by the New York Islanders in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and went on to serve as their captain. After playing for the New York Islanders from 2009-2018 Tavers signed for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tavers has represented Canada at the World Championships and was part of a gold medal winning team at the 2014 Olympic Games despite injuring his knee.
