Biography: Kim Philby was a British intelligence officer, best known for being revealed ass a double agent for the Soviet Union. He worked initially as a journalist and then served with the Secret Intelligence Service, then as first secretary to the British Embassy in Washington.

He was part of the 'Cambridge Five,' a group who attended the University of Cambridge together and later provided information to the Soviets. The other four were Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess, Anthony Blunt, and John Cairncross.

While Philby came under suspicion after Maclean and Burgess fled to Moscow in 1951, he was initially exonerated in 1955 and returned to working as a spy. He was not conclusively unmasked until 1963, at which he fled to Moscow where he would remain for the rest of his life.
