His rise to fame was swift, he released the mega single "Old Town Road" in December of 2018 and through its popularity on social media platform TikTok became No. 1 for a record 19 weeks.
Nas X was controversially excluded from the Billboard Country chart, prompting racism claims. This was despite remixing his single with country star Billy Ray Cyrus among others. Nas X came out as gay in 2019, going to become the first openly LGBTQ person to win a County Music Award
