Biography: Suárez was a midfielder considered one of the all-time greats in Spanish football.

He played for a series of teams starting with Deportivo de La Coruña in 1953, España Industrial, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, and finally Sampdoria where he finished in 1973. He also played in the Spanish national team from 1957 to 1972.

After retiring from professional football, Suárez—whose nickname had been El Arquitecto (The Architect)—went on to coach and manage a number of high profile football teams including Inter Milan and the Spanish national team.
