Biography: Luther Burbank developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants including a successful breed of Shasta daisy, fire poppy and a natural genetic variant of the Burbank potato, later known as the Russet Burbank potato.

The Russet Burbank potato is now the most widely grown potato in North America and is famously used for McDonald's french fries.
