Biography: Muhammad Yunus was born in Bangladesh in 1940. After studying economics at Dhaka University, he went on to teach at the same institution.

In 1983, he founded the Grameen Bank, which provides small loans to the poor. The bank has helped millions of people to escape poverty, and Yunus has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
