Biography: Peter Sagan is a Slovak cyclist known for a wide array of victories in the cycling world including three consecutive World Road Race Championships (2015, 2016, 2017) and a European Road Race Championship (2016).

Sagan had a particularly noteworthy early victory when he arrived to compete in the Slovak Cup on a supermarket-bought bicycle that he had borrowed from his sister. He had accidentally sold his bicycle without having enough time to receive a new bicycle from Velosprint, his sponsors. Despite all this, Sagan went on to win the race.

Early in his career, Sagan was more interested in mountain biking than road racing. He won the Mountain Bike Junior World Championship in 2008, but eventually ended up at Liquigas-Doimo where his fitness impressed impressed doctors and managers alike. This set the stage for the career of an all-time cycling great.
