Biography:Served as the 11th Prime Minister of Canada from August 1930 to October 1935, during the worst of the Great Depression years. He tried to combat the depression by increasing trade within the British Empire, but his success was limited and his own wealth (often openly displayed) alienated many struggling Canadians.
