Biography: Richard M. Daley is an American politician who served as the mayor of Chicago from 1989 to 2011. He was the longest-serving Chicago mayor, and also the third longest-serving mayor in United States history. Daley was first elected in 1989 and was re-elected five times, becoming the longest-serving mayor of the city.

Daley was the second son of Richard J. Daley, the Mayor of Chicago from 1955 to 1976. He graduated from DePaul University with a degree in finance in 1964 and subsequently served in the United States Army Reserve. Daley eventually returned to Chicago and began practicing law.

Daley was an advocate for public health and education, and was known for his efforts to revitalize downtown Chicago. He was also an advocate for the environment and worked to improve the quality of life in the city’s neighborhoods.
