Biography: Selena Gomez first appeared on children's TV program "Barney and Friends" before finding fame in the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place", which ran from 2007-2012.
During this period Gomez formed the band Selena Gomez & the Scene after signing a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2008.
Gomez later continued her music career as a solo artist, releasing her debut solo album "Star Dance" in 2013.
In 2015 it was revealed Gomez had been diagnosed with the auto-immune disease lupus. In 2017 Gomez underwent a kidney transplant as a result of lupus, donated by her friend Francia Raisa.
Gomez is known for her on and off again relationship with fellow singer Justin Bieber. In 2018 Gomez was the most followed person on Instagram in the world with over 130 million followers.
