Biography: Stan Mikita is regarded as the best ice hockey centre of the 1960s era.

Adopted as an 8-year old he moved from Slovakia to St. Catharines, Ontario in 1948. He starred for the St. Catharines Teepees of the Ontario Hockey Association for 3 seasons before being called up by Chicago Black Hawks in 1959–60.

He played his entire career for the Black Hawks winning a Stanley Cup (1961); the Hart Memorial Trophy - MVP (1967, 1968); and was named to the NHL's First All-Star Team in 1962, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1967 and 1968.

Mikita was one of the first players to wear a helmet full-time. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 along with former teammate Bobby Hull and was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017.
