Biography: Thomas Muster is an Austrian former professional tennis player. Known for his powerful groundstrokes and incredible determination on the court, he is often considered among the greatest clay-court players in the history of the sport and hence known as "The King of Clay."

Muster turned professional in 1985, but his rise to the top was halted abruptly in 1989, when he suffered a severe knee injury in a car accident. Despite this setback, Muster embarked on a remarkable comeback, returning to the sport less than a year later.

His defining moment came in 1995, when he won the French Open, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, and a feat that affirmed his reputation as a clay-court specialist. That same year, Muster reached the pinnacle of the sport by attaining the world number one ranking in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings.

Muster retired from the professional tour in 1999, but returned for a brief period in 2010-2011.
