Biography: Widely considered one of the greatest military strategists of the 20th century and this sometimes called the "Red Napoleon".

Giáp served as the military leader of the Viet Minh resistance during World War II, fighting against the Japanese occupation of Vietnam.

Giáp was also a crucial military commander in the First Indochina War of 1946–1954 against France and its allies and the decisive battle of Điện Biên Phủ.

A genius at logistics, Giáp laid the foundation of the Ho Chi Minh trail, recognized as one of the great feats of military engineering of the 20th century.

He is most famous though for North Vietnam's military victory over South Vietnam and their Western allies where he served as Military Minister and Chief of Staff.
