Biography:Davis played Major League Baseball for most of his career as a center fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
During this time, he won a variety of awards (including Gold Gloves from 1971–1973) and established himself in major league history (seventh in putouts and total chances in the outfield, third in games in center field).
Most notably, he achieved a 31-game hitting streak in 1969—the longest by a Dodger, beating Zack Wheat’s previous record of 29.
