Biography: Akira Toriyama is a renowned Japanese manga artist and character designer. He is best known for creating the widely popular manga and anime series, Dragon Ball.

Toriyama started his career as a manga artist with the series Dr. Slump in 1980. It became an immediate success, earning him the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1981.

He began working on Dragon Ball in 1984, which went on to become a global phenomenon. The series has since spawned numerous spin-offs, including Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super.

In addition to his manga work, Toriyama has designed characters for various video games. He collaborated with Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu to create the characters for the iconic role-playing game, Chrono Trigger (1995).

Toriyama has also worked as a character designer for the long-running video game series, Dragon Quest. His distinct artistic style is easily recognizable and has left a lasting impact on the world of manga and animation.
