Biography: Anna Kournikova is a Russian former professional tennis player who achieved worldwide celebrity status, despite never winning a WTA singles title.

Kournikova had a successful junior career and turned professional in 1995 at the age of 14. She quickly rose up the rankings, reaching the fourth round of the 1996 US Open at 15 and making the Wimbledon semifinals in 1997 at 16.

Kournikova reached her first and only Grand Slam singles semifinal at Wimbledon in 1997. She achieved her career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 in 2000. She struggled with serious back and spinal injuries from 2001 to 2003, however, and played her last match at 22 before being forced to retire.

While her singles career was hampered by injuries, Kournikova found great success in doubles. She won two Grand Slam doubles titles at the Australian Open in 1999 and 2002, partnering with Martina Hingis. The pair, nicknamed the "Spice Girls of Tennis," were the world No. 1 doubles team.

Kournikova remained in the public eye after retirement through modeling, appearances, and exhibitions. She appeared in Enrique Iglesias' music video for "Escape" in 2001, leading to a long-term relationship. The couple had twins, a son and daughter, in 2017, and another daughter in 2020.
