Biography:Anne McCaffrey was an American-Irish writer known for her science fiction series, the Dragonriders of Pern. She won a Hugo Award for her novella, Weyr Search, in 1968, which made her the first woman to win the award.
McCaffrey was also one of the first science-fiction authors to feature on the New York Times Best Seller list, with her 1978 novel The White Dragon.
