Biography: Anthony Quinn was a Mexican-American actor, painter, writer, and film director known for his powerful performances in a variety of roles across a career that spanned over six decades. With his commanding presence and distinctive voice, Quinn became an iconic figure in both Hollywood and international cinema.

Quinn made his acting debut in the 1936 film Parole, but his breakthrough came in 1952 with the film Viva Zapata! where he portrayed the character of Eufemio Zapata alongside Marlon Brando. His powerful performance earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first Mexican-American actor to win an Oscar.

One of his most famous roles was in the 1964 film Zorba the Greek, in which he played the title character, Alexis Zorba. His passionate and energetic portrayal of the free-spirited Greek peasant earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Another notable performance was in Lawrence of Arabia (1962) where he played the role of Auda abu Tayi.

Quinn continued to act well into his 80s, demonstrating his enduring talent and versatility. In addition to his acting career, Quinn was also a talented painter and writer. He published his autobiography, The Original Sin: A Self-Portrait, in 1972, providing an intimate look at his life and career.
