Biography:The chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous I Have a Dream speech, Rustin was a committed civil rights activist who also led social movements for gay rights, socialism and nonviolence.
He was an honorary chairperson of the Socialist Party USA and helped organize the Southern Christian Leadership Conference which Martin Luther King Jr. led.
