NFL Running Back and Baseball Outfielder Bo Jackson

Full Name: Vincent Edward "Bo" Jackson
Profession: NFL Running Back and Baseball Outfielder

Nationality:
United States of America
American

Biography: Bo Jackson was one of the greatest multi-sport athletes of all time.

He attended Auburn University where he won the Heisman Trophy as a damaging running back and was selected #1 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1986 NFL Draft.

He instead opted to play baseball for the Kansas City Royals who had drafted him in MLB's amateur draft in 1986. He was also drafted by the LA Raiders late in the 1987 NFL Draft and Raiders owner Al Davis engineered a deal allowing Jackson to play the entire MLB season before reporting to the Raiders to play football.

Unfortunately Jackson's athletic pursuits were cut short by a career ending hip injury in 1991. He was cut by the Royals and despite his best efforts with the Chicago White Sox and California Angels, he was never the same player.

He is the only professional athlete in history to be named an All-Star in both baseball and football. In fact he was MVP in the 1989 MLB All Star game.

Jackson became known beyond sports through Nike's "Bo Knows" advertising campaign in the early 90s and has also tried his hand at acting in television and film. He is also part-owner and CEO of the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Complex, an 88,000-square-foot multi-sport dome facility in Lockport, Illinois.
