Biography: Bobby Murcer was an American professional baseball player and broadcaster best known for his time as an outfielder with the New York Yankees, as well as for his later career as a Yankees broadcaster. Over the course of his career, Murcer was a five-time All-Star as well as a Gold Glove winner.

Murcer began his professional baseball career when he signed with the Yankees in 1964. His ascent to the majors was briefly interrupted by military service from 1967 to 1968, during which he still found opportunities to play baseball. Returning to the game, Murcer established himself as a valuable player, debuting with the Yankees in 1965.

He played the majority of his career in New York but also spent time with the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. Throughout the early 1970s, Murcer was known for his offensive skills and was often among the American League leaders in various categories. He finished his playing career with the Yankees after being traded back to the team in 1979, retiring from professional baseball in 1983.

After his playing career, Murcer transitioned to broadcasting, where was a recognisable voice for the Yankees over the next two decades.

Murcer married his high school sweetheart, Kay, in 1966 and they had two children. He was involved in charitable work and business ventures, including authoring his autobiography, Yankee for Life (2008).
