Biography: Bugs Moran is best known for his violent rivalry with Al Capone and being the target of the infamous Saint Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929.

Moran was born in 1893 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to French immigrant parents. He had a troubled youth, leaving school at 18 and being incarcerated three times before turning 21. Moran then fled to Chicago where he joined the North Side Gang led by Dean O'Banion and became heavily involved in bootlegging during Prohibition.

This brought Moran into conflict with Al Capone's South Side Gang, leading to bloody turf wars. The violence peaked with the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre on February 14, 1929, where seven members of Moran's gang were killed in an attack allegedly ordered by Capone. Moran himself narrowly escaped.

After the massacre, Moran's power and influence declined. He engaged in petty crimes and had several stints in prison, including a 1939 conviction for check fraud and a 1945 conviction for robbery. In his personal life, Moran married twice and had one son.

Moran died of lung cancer in February of 1957 while serving a sentence at Leavenworth Federal Prison in Kansas.
