Biography: Chloé Zhao is a Chinese filmmaker, best known for her Nomadland (2020) which received four Academy Award nominations and won Best Picture and Best Director. This made her the second woman ever to win Best Director, after Kathryn Bigelow who won in 2010 with The Hurt Locker (2008).

Zhao has also directed Songs My Brothers Taught me (2015) and The Rider (2017), both of which have been acclaimed by critics. She also co-wrote and directed the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals (2021), which has not received quite as much critical acclaim as her earlier independent films.
