Biography: Alan Ayckbourn is a British playwright and director, who has written and produced more than 80 plays. He was also the artistic director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough between 1972 and 2009.
Ayckbourn's plays have won numerous awards and been translated into over 35 languages, with 10 of his plays being also performed on Broadway. He has been nominated for two Tony Awards, one of which he won.
