Biography: Clive Lloyd is considered one of the greatest captains in cricket history.

An outstanding middle-order batsman and fielder, he was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1971. He assumed the West Indies captaincy in 1974 and oversaw their rise to become the dominant Test-playing nation until 1985.

During Lloyd's captaincy the Windies had a run of 27 matches without defeat, which included 11 Test wins in succession (Viv Richards acted as captain for one of the 27 matches).

He was the first West Indian player to earn 100 international caps leading the West Indies in 3 World Cups, winning in 1975 and 1979 while losing the 1983 final to India.

In all, Lloyd played 110 Tests scoring 7,515 runs @ 46.67 with 19 centuries and a high score of 242 not out in the 5th Test versus India at Mumbai in 1975. He later managed the WI team, did some television commentary and was an ICC match referee 2001-06.

Lloyd was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009 and was knighted in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to cricket.
