Biography: Comte de Rochambeau was a French nobleman and general in the American Revolutionary War, playing a significant role as the leader of the French Expeditionary Force that assisted the Continental Army. He and his troops were instrumental in securing the decisive American victory at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, which essentially ended the war in favor of the Americans.

Rochambeau coordinated closely with American General George Washington throughout the war. Their strategic collaboration, combined with Rochambeau's leadership, contributed to the successful outcome for the American forces. The French troops under Rochambeau's command were critical reinforcements, and their involvement was a pivotal factor in the American victory.
