Breedlove was the first person to exceed 400 mph (640 km/h), 500 mph (800 km/h), and 600 mph (970 km/h), breaking the land speed record in 1963, 1964, and 1965 respectively. These accomplishments pushed the boundaries of automotive technology and ignited public interest in the land speed records as a form of sporting achievement.

Breedlove's career was not without its challenges and controversies, including intense rivalries and debates over the technical specifications of his vehicles.
