Biography: Ernő Rubik is a Hungarian professor of architecture and inventor, best known for creating the Rubik's Cube. This three-dimensional combination puzzle was invented in 1974 and has since become one of the best-selling puzzles in the world. Rubik initially designed the Cube as a teaching tool to help explain three-dimensional geometry, but the challenge quickly captivated a much broader audience.

After the initial success of the Rubik's Cube in Hungary, Rubik partnered with an American toy company to distribute the puzzle worldwide. The Cube became a global craze in the 1980s, leading to international competitions and a wide array of solving methods. Its colorful and seemingly simple appearance belied an addictive complexity.

Rubik's inventiveness extended beyond the Cube. He has been involved in the development and promotion of other puzzles and games, often focusing on geometric and spatial challenges; for instance he has also created the Rubik's Magic and Rubik's Snake toys.
