Biography: Evonne Goolagong Cawley is an Australian tennis player, formerly the world number one. She won 14 Grand Slam tournament titles, seven of which were in the women's singles: the Australian Open four times, Wimbledon twice, and the French Open.

Goolagong first came to fame after winning the French Open singles at age 19 in 1971. She won in the women's doubles at the Australian Open in the same year alongside Margaret Court. As a result she was named Australian of the Year for 1971.

In 1988, Goolagong was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. She was then selected for the Aboriginal Sporting Hall of Fame in 1989.
