Biography: Francis Ford was an American actor, writer, and film director, primarily known for his work in silent films in the early days of Hollywood. He was the elder brother of the renowned film director John Ford and the actor Wallace Ford. He also appeared in many of his brother's films, including "The Quiet Man" (1952), which starred John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.

Starting his career in 1909, Francis Ford became one of the leading directors and actors in the burgeoning film industry, primarily working for Universal Pictures. He directed hundreds of short films and features, which were known for their action sequences and creative storytelling. His acting roles varied, with his most well-known part being Elder Brother in his brother's "The Iron Horse" (1924), an epic Western silent film.

Ford's work has often been overshadowed by the success of his younger brother, John Ford, who won four Academy Awards for directing. Nevertheless, he was a significant figure in his own right in early Hollywood.
