Biography: JoAnne Carner is an American professional golfer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of women's golf. Her outstanding skill, tenacity, and longevity in the sport earned her the nickname "Big Mama" and solidified her place among the all-time greats.

Carner's illustrious career began in the 1950s when she won multiple amateur championships, including the prestigious U.S. Women's Amateur titles in 1957 and 1960. She turned professional in 1969 and soon became a dominant force on the LPGA Tour, winning numerous tournaments and major championships.

Among her most significant accomplishments, Carner captured two U.S. Women's Open titles in 1971 and 1976, as well as two LPGA Championship titles in 1974 and 1982. In total, she won 43 LPGA Tour events during her career, ranking her among the top players in the history of women's professional golf.

In addition to her individual achievements, Carner represented the United States in eight editions of the Solheim Cup, a prestigious team competition between American and European women golfers. Her leadership and competitive spirit made her a valuable asset to the American team.
